Your Sick Day Toolkit

By Anne Piccolo

It’s that time of year again. With the holiday meals, carols, and snowfalls inevitably come sniffles, coughs, and red Rudolph-like noses. Last week while I was down and out for the count, I got to thinking about how to keep showing work who’s boss even when sickness takes us out of commission and wanted to share some tips.

Fake it till you make it – Even if I’m working from home and still in my pajamas, I want to keep a professional front. When I’m doing a demonstration with a customer, I often like to use video to add a personal touch to the meeting. Now, has two ways to start video; one by going into “Settings” on the toolbar and another by clicking on the video icon on your bubble when you are in a meeting. There’s a time and a place for both, but when I’m working from home and a little under the weather I am very grateful for the first method of starting video because I am presented with a much needed preview window. That way, I can make sure that all of my Kleenex are out of the frame and my background is as professional as possible!

Combat a foggy brain with recording – Don’t let  the sick present you get in the way of future you’s success. If you’re still trying to participate in a meeting with colleagues while combating a cold, you want to make sure that you don’t miss any details. Use’s recording as your secret weapon to make sure that you won’t miss a beat. Both the screensharing and audio aspects of your meeting will be recorded so you’ll be able to refer back to anything in the meeting from a due date for a project or an action item that your boss wanted you to follow up on.

Let be your chicken soup – When you’re sick, you trust chicken soup because it just works, just like! With no downloads, less clicks to get you where you need to go, and all the resources you need to be part of the 67% of people who didn’t have to change any meetings when they worked from home!

Happy WFH-ing!
