Customer Spotlight: Telling the Untold Story with The Global Press Institute
Good journalism is more than just having all the facts – it’s about the perspectives of the people involved in the story. In today’s modern world of mobile devices and instant internet connections, a reporter has unlimited access to supporting data. But it’s the interviews with the people involved that really make the stories come to life. That’s why we’re so excited to share how our customer Global Press Institute (GPI) uses join.me to train and connect their global reporters, to tell the untold stories of the people in developing communities.
Global Press Institute is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco. Their mission is to enable women in emerging markets to become journalists, and write pieces about what is happening in their own communities. The GPI empowers women to use their voice and tell stories that would otherwise never be heard.
With reporters and editors located all across the world – Mexico City, Nairobi, and Haiti to name a few – GPI needed a solution to hold trainings for their new writers, including real-time editing workshops. After using a hodge-podge of applications, they tried join.me and found it was the perfect collaboration tool to connect with their dispersed reporters.
